Welcome to the Homestead Valley Neighborhood Response Group!

Homestead Valley is an unincorporated community of about 1100 homes located between the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and the City of Mill Valley, with a Firewise designation. This means the community is well versed in wildfire safety and prevention. We are always looking for ways to support existing volunteer efforts through Neighborhood Response Groups and raise awareness of all the hazards our communities face.

Homestead Valley Firewise Committee meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month starting at 7pm at the HV Community Center. Community residents are always welcome to participate.

Please reach out to the Southern Marin NRG Coordinator to get started in your neighborhood.

Where do you fit in?

Currently, Homestead Valley is not mapped into smaller neighborhoods, but we are exploring developing 7 to 10 groups across the community to mirror the work that's already been started by the Homestead Valley Firewise.

Even though the mapping is not complete, you can still find ways to volunteer and connect with your neighbors. Feel free to contact the Southern Marin NRG Coordinator to find out more about what's happening in your area and how to get involved.

Homestead Valley Neighborhood Response Group Map

The below interactive map outlines the boundary of the Homestead Valley NRG. Click on the shaded area to view the group overview, current number of Block Captains, and more details. These Block Captains will be covering their local neighborhood, not the entire NRG. The more coverage we develop, the more prepared the whole community will be.

This map will be updated with more details in the future, once mapping is complete. You can open the map in a new tab by clicking the "View Larger Map" icon           in the upper right corner of the map frame.

Reflective Address Placard Program

Homestead Valley is coordinating with Southern Marin Fire District to mobilize Homestead Valley residents to install reflective safety address placards. Reflective Safety Address Placards ensure first responders can more easily locate your home. Placards will be installed on existing fence post, mailbox post or a steel stake. This free to HV seniors (65+ self-qualified). For all other HV residents, a donation is requested at $20. Orders may take up to 4 weeks. Contact HVSafety@homesteadvalley.org for more details.

Meet the Homestead Valley Steering Committee

Guiding the development of Homestead Valley’s Neighborhood Response Group Network is the Steering Committee. You can email the Steering Committee directly to find out how to get involved in your area.
